Schneider Breaks Through

Jan Schneider had a breakout race at the South Netherlands Championships, lowering his 5K personal best by 26 seconds en route to a second place overall finish.

2014 has been a very good year for Jan, who has posted numerous top three finishes in track, road, and trail races throughout the year. Because of his repeated high finishes and fast times, he was invited to take part in the South Netherlands Championships and the 5000m held on the track.

After starting out in last place by 10 meters after the first lap, Jan pushed the second lap and moved past everyone into first place. Jan ran in front until the 3400m mark, when another runner passed him. That lead was short lived, as Jan re-took the lead after a lap and held that until the final straight where another runner overtook him for the overall victor. Jan held on for second place finish and 16:08.51 clocking.

Congratulation on the huge personal best to Jan, who has been coached by Lowell Ladd since 2010.
