Surprise Win for Rookie Marathon Runner in Coeur d'Alene

When she set her goals for the marathon four months ago, Julie Gilchrist was looking to break the four hour mark and probably did not have even the slightest thoughts of winning the race. But when she crossed the finish line in 3:14:30, she got there almost three minutes faster than the second woman.

Julie has been running for most of her life, but decided to enlist the help of an online coach to prepare her for the 26.2 mile distance. Coach Brian Falk has guided her training through the full 16 week training cycle, culminating in this weekend's accomplishement.

Commenting on Julie's training and race, Brian had this to say: "Julie did a great job from the beginning in providing the sort of concise and thorough feedback that makes online coaching work. Because of this, it was easy to hone in on a program that I knew would work well for her. Thanks to her talent and commitment, the result was a marathon performance that was 45 minutes faster than the goal she had set at the start of the program. I am thrilled for her."
